Are we wired for mobile learning?

With learning technology moving quickly and changing the way that we learn, the question is often asked “How can we use technology in the workplace?”  Here’s a great infographic that visualises the evolution of learning and gives some examples of how mlearning is being used in classrooms today.

Trainers and instructional designers need to consider how we are going deliver training that will meet the needs of the digital natives.

I would love to hear some ideas about how learning professionals are using mlearning and social media tools as part of their learning programmes.    Please leave a comment.

    Confession time Michelle!

I’m not a big “mobile” person so I can’t really offer any value to this conversation I’m afraid. I’m so behind the times still.

Now I do have an iPod Touch and have downloaded some apps there but not a whole lot. Sorry I’m of no help but did want to at least stop by and check out your post. I found it very interesting.

      Hi Adrienne
It is a really interesting infograph isn’t it? Interesting to see the way that learning has evolved, and it’s getting faster and faster! I must admit I’ve only had my smart phone for about five months – before that I just had a simple phone that I could just text and make calls, but I just LOVE my smart phone. I can check my email, blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, internet, play music from anywhere! I can use Evernote on my phone to record my ideas for my blog (or anything else) either by audio or text; the GPS so I don’t get lost. It’s just so useful!

Thanks for stopping by Adrienne, have a good day!

    Michelle:
Nice blog post, it forced me to revisit Voxy who I talked to before they really launched their product full scale. We do a lot of mobile in regards to corporate education. We developed a voice simulation platform that allows you to build simulated interactive conversations that can be accessed from any phone. Mobi-RolePlay is being used for sales training, call centers, interviewing skills, negotiations skill and more. We recently launched a version of this for children who are on the Autism spectrum to practice social conversations. If you’d like to test drive either one here are the demo sites for each

      Hi Nancy,
Yes, Voxy is a great site isn’t it – I only just discovered it recently and have bookmarked it.

Sounds like you’re really onto it with regards to mlearning. I’m very impressed! Just checked out mobi-roleplay demo – how exciting! I can see how this could be very useful for corporate training. It is available for countries outside of Chicago (ie New Zealand?)

Great article, i can see that a lot of websites are getting mobile friendly because smartphones are tacking over the market which allows you to go onto website from your phone and not have to use a computer.
